Because of the involvement of one of our patients, we've recently donated pens and pencils to Loldia Primary School in Kenya. Typically the children come from poor backgrounds but take their studies very seriously.
The stationery is deemed as very useful to the pupils and staff, but expensive to source locally.
Being a very well run school, we hope that we've helped some of the very talented students, many of whom will be able to go on to University. For more information on Loldia Primary School, please click here.

Our Senior Dentist, Mr Daniel Murphy regularly attends post-graduate courses to ensure that Dove Dental Care is utilising dental best practice, along with the most recent treatments and techniques. A recently attended CPD course was presented by three very high profile dentists, comprising a Professor and two Consultant Dentists practicing restorative dentistry. -Treatment Focus: Snoring and Sleep Apnoea |
|
| |
| |
|
|
Did you know that 40% of people snore and 5% of people suffer from Sleep Apnoea, a sleep disorder that causes interrupted breathing during sleep?
The condition interrupts the sleep patterns of the sufferer and indeed, their partner, causing tiredness during the day, which has been accountable to road traffic and other serious accidents. The condition has also been linked to high blood pressure, stroke and diabetes.
Sleep Apnoea is a result of the muscles and soft tissues in the throat relaxing and collapsing, causing a temporary, but total blockage of the airway. However, for snoring and Sleep Apnoea sufferers, there is hope though. Dove Dental Care can assess and fit the sufferer with a removable, precision Mandibular; a plastic device moulded especially for the wearer which gently draws the chin forward, opening up the airways whilst they sleep.
Do you or your partner snore, or perhaps you know someone who snores and feels that their quality of life could be improved? We suggest taking a short survey which will score the sufferer on what is known as the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (click here) . Should the participant score 10 or more on the scale, it is advised to seek advice.
Send your score and details of any problems in a 100% confidentially managed email to the head of Dove dental Care, Mr. Daniel Murphy (click here) and start tackling this very common, yet very treatable problem. |

-Tips & Tricks: Fissure Sealants |
|
| |
| |
|
|
This month we examine Fissure Sealants for children, an easy to apply plastic coating that protects new teeth from a young age.
Many parents aren't even aware that their child's second teeth are coming through, but as soon as they begin to erupt, around the age of six, if sealed, decay can be significantly halted, steering children in the right direction for maintaining healthy teeth for life.
Fissure's are the grooves found in the chewing surfaces of the back teeth; areas notorious for collecting food debris. The sealant comprises a 'runny' plastic that sets hard, just like paint.
If you think that your child's second teeth might be erupting and would like to ensure their health is maintained, why not get in touch and book an appointment with our Dental Hygienist? |
