Tooth Decay is the greatest cause of hospital admissions for 5 to 9 year olds

child decay

In an in-depth feature in the Telegraph journalist Victoria Lambert questions why tooth decay is still such an issue in the 21st century. The feature relates to yesterday’s coverage of figures showing that tooth decay is still the greatest cause of hospital admissions in 5 to 9 year-olds. The journalist discusses the issue with Dr Nigel Carter from the British Dental Health Foundation. He highlights the risk from overconsumption of sugary drinks and notes that some children are not taught proper dental care at home or taken to see the dentist on a regular basis. He also notes that 20 or 30 years ago the number of extractions being carried out would have been even higher, but many of these would have been carried out at the dental surgery.

Here at Dove Dental Care we believe in prevention and education of the parent and child.
